A case study is available to view featuring the East Sussex Iconic company team from Seaford Head Sixth Form College. This explains how they turned around a slow start to their programme into a thriving business that is now continuing even after the Young Enterprise finished.
The team eventually settled on producing mugs featuring iconic East Sussex landmarks. The first two editions were of the famous Seven Sisters cliffs and the Cuckmere valley. Both of these beautiful locations are not far from the school itself and are very popular with visitors to the county.
Despite the slow start, the company won the Brighton Hove & Lewes Area Finals, also winning best product and best governance, and then progressed to the East Sussex County Final, where they again won best governance and also a special prize for most improved company in the county.

Thanks to everyone who supported our recent Trade Fair in the Arndale Centre. All of the teams reported back to us that they had a great day. Several sold out of their product, and others came close.
Whilst all of the company members gave great customer service, two of the teams scored the ultimate 100% in the Mystery Shopper award. As a result, an additional cup has been engraved and a certificate printed. The winning companies – Tea and Co (from Eastbourne Academy) and Infinitee (from Bishop Bell School) – will each receive a cup and a certificate for display.
The Mystery Shopper award is professionally assessed by Shoppers Anonymous in a completely discreet manner. The identity of the mystery shopper really is anonymous and a closely guarded secret.
The results, together with a professional report for each team, are not known until several days after the event, so the award cannot be made on the day. To have one team score 100% is a fantastic achievement. To have two teams score 100% is the best result ever!
The other two awards on the day – Best Customer Service and Best Trade Stand – were won by Ensemble (from Willingdon School) and Infinitee (from Bishop Bell School) respectively. Caroline Ansell MP, the local Member of Parliament for Eastbourne and Willingdon presented the prizes and has included details on her website.
Congratulations to all concerned. Further Trade Fairs are to be held at the Asda Superstore on March 12th and 13th. Please make a point of attending to see and buy the teams’ products, and experience great customer service, as well as to help our youngsters in their learn-by-doing enterprise programme.
