The Ultimate Teenage Business Challenge
Under the Company Programme students set up and run a real firm for a year with the guidance of a business advisor volunteer. You will get practical experience of the joys and pitfalls of creating a truly functioning company.
You will undertake everything from raising the initial share capital through to designing and making your product or service to selling directly to customers, including at specially organised trade fairs, and ultimately closing the business, paying taxes and distributing the profit!
Over 1,000,000 Young People Have Run a Real Business for a Year with Young Enterprise
The Company Programme has been running since 1963 and in that time over a million 15-19 year olds have taken part. Apart from delivering aspects of work related learning under the national curriculum, independent research shows it develops key skills that enhance young people’s employability and enterprise capabilities.
Many past participants of the Company Programme have gone on to outstanding careers as entrepreneurs, corporate executives and public figures. Employers tend to look favourably on students who have taken part in the company programme.
The academic world also recognises the value of the scheme. An A level 3 OCR qualification is available to all students taking part in the Company Programme. This is worth up to forty UCAS points that count towards entry into university.
